 Erwin Fabian
  Born in Berlin, the son of painter, Max Fabian (1873-1926)
1938 Emigrated to London. Studied at London Polytechnic and received first commissions for book cover designs.
1940 Interned and deported aboard the troopship ‘Dunera’.
  Joined the Australian Army after internment at Hay, Orange and Tatura.
1945 Produced covers and illustrations for the Current Affairs Bulletin, after transfer to the Army Education Unit until demobilisation.
1949 Returned to London, continued working as a free-lance designer and lectured in Graphic Design at the London School of Printing and Graphic Arts.
1962 Returned to Australia and began making abstract sculpture, exhibiting for the first time in 1965 at the Hungry Horse Gallery, Sydney.
2000-01 A large retrospective exhibition, ‘Max und Erwin Fabian: Berlin-London-Melbourne’, was held in the Stadtmuseum Berlin (Ephraim Palais)
