Figurative narrative painter Rodney Forbes received a Diploma of Visual Art from the Gippsland Institute, Victoria in 1982, a Graduate Diploma in Art from the Gippsland Institute in 1983 and later a Master of Fine Art from Monash University. He is the previous recipient of a Victorian Arts Board Grand. Forbes has lectured since 1995 at Monash University Gippsland in visual art. His work is held by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; Artbank, Sydney; the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, Perth and several regional and university collections.
